Program Purpose and Scope
In accordance with California Education Code Section 88003, the district may utilize temporary employment classifications for work that is not ongoing or a continuous component of District operations or services. These temporary appointments provide the district with flexibility to address short-term operational, project-based, specialized, or interim staffing needs without establishing permanent classified positions.
This program governs the employment, administration, and oversight of temporary non-student hourly positions that are exempt from the classified service, including:
- Professional Expert Employees
- Project Based Employees
- Periodic/On-call Employees
These appointments are intended to support temporary, intermittent, substitute, or specialized work assignments in compliance with applicable Education Code provisions, District policies, and employment regulations.
