Welcome to the LRC-155 recording studio at West Valley College. This room supports three recording setups — Learning Glass, Green Screen, and Backdrop Podium — all controlled from the touch panel near the entrance. This guide walks you through starting the system, choosing a mode, recording, and shutting down.

Record myself with my slides Green Screen mode → choose In Slide or Side Slide format
Record with a black background Select Backdrop Podium → pull the black curtain across the green screen → Record
Record a group (up to ~4 people) Select Backdrop Podium → Shot Type Wide → Record
Fix audio that's too quiet / muted Audio Control → raise level with + / tap the red mute icon to unmute

Start the System

Start Screen

When the system is idle, the touch panel shows the start screen with the room name (LRC-155), date, and time.

  1. Tap the power icon (Press to Start) to wake the system.
  2. The system powers on the monitors, camera, and recording equipment. This takes a few moments.
  3. The system starts in Learning Glass mode automatically — if that's what you're using, you're ready to go.

Touch Panel Layout

Once the system is running, every mode shares the same basic layout:

Area What it does
Top bar Room name, date/time, and the power icon (upper right) to shut down
Select a mode Switch between Green Screen, Backdrop Podium, and Learning Glass
Left sidebar Toggle the Wall Monitor and Cart Monitor on/off, and choose what they display (Recording View or Room Computer)
Center panel Controls specific to the current mode (record, camera, format)
Bottom bar Lighting Control, Audio Control, and Help

Audio Control

Tap Audio Control in the bottom bar to adjust levels for each source:

  • Learning Glass — the microphone at the Learning Glass station.
  • Green Screen — the microphone(s) used in Green Screen / Backdrop Podium recordings.
  • Computer — playback audio from the room computer.

Each channel has + / − buttons to raise or lower the level (shown on the vertical meter) and a mute button at the bottom. A red mute icon means that source is currently muted — tap it again to unmute.

Tip: Before recording, confirm the microphone for your mode is not muted and do a short test recording to check levels.

Lighting Control

Tap Lighting Control in the bottom bar to select a lighting preset:

  • Green Screen — even lighting for clean green screen keying.
  • Backdrop Lighting — lighting tuned for the curtain/podium setup.
  • Learning Glass — lighting for the glass board (selected by default in Learning Glass mode).
  • Board Control — manual control of the board lighting.
  • Lights Off — turns studio lighting off.

The active preset is highlighted. Selecting the preset that matches your recording mode gives the best on-camera results.

Shut Down the System

When you're finished:

  1. Stop your recording and confirm it saved.
  2. Tap the power icon in the upper right corner of the touch panel.
  3. At the confirmation prompt — "Do you want to power down the system?" — tap Power Down (or Cancel to return).
  4. The system shuts down the monitors, camera, and lighting and returns to the start screen for the next user.
