Board of Trustees Mission Statement
The Board effectively governs and provides strategic oversight to drive educational excellence, advance equity, and foster an inclusive environment throughout the district community.
2025-2026 Goals
The Board of Trustees will monitor the implementation of the college and district racial justice and social equity plans and champion the district’s values.
Measurement Criteria
- Receipt of dashboard reports once per year.
- Development of board resolutions that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Approval of funding streams to support programming.
- Complete scheduled professional development.
- Ensure EEO plan completion.
The Board of Trustees will manage assets to best identify, address, and meet needs of students.
Measurement Criteria
- Address food insecurity.
- Explore potential partnerships for student housing.
- Improvement of transportation options.
- Explore opportunities with cities, government agencies, professional organizations, and private businesses.
- Stay informed and continue advocating for the Bachelor’s Program implementation.
The Board of Trustees will engage in a comprehensive professional development program.
Measurement Criteria
- The board will complete training in the following areas: Brown Act, diversity, equity, and inclusion, bias, ethics, and sexual harassment.
- Attend CCLC conferences.
- Update the onboarding process for new Trustees.
Increase outreach opportunities by the Board of Trustees to both internal constituents and the external community, including civic, educational, and legislative partners. Stay informed and communicate effectively.
Measurement Criteria
- Establish at least one annual meeting with the seven cities served by the district.
- Attend Academic, Classified and Student Senate Meeting at each college.
- Meet with the County Board of Supervisor(s), the County Board of Education Chair, State Assembly Representatives, City Councils and local school boards.
- Advocate on behalf of the district and facilitate connections.
