NOTICE OF VACANCY AND PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT
A vacancy on the Governing Board of the West Valley-Mission Community College District occurred on January 24, 2024 due to the
death of Trustee Jack Lucas.
In accordance with Education Code section 5091, Mary-Lynne Bernald was provisionally appointed to the office on March 19, 2024.
Unless a petition calling for a special election, containing a sufficient number of signatures is filed with the Santa Clara County Superintendent of Schools within thirty (30) days of this provisional appointment, it shall become an effective appointment.
The Board of Trustees
The West Valley-Mission Community College District is governed by a seven-member Board. Elected by Trustee Area, Board members serve four-year terms. Elections take place in even-numbered years, with three members chosen at one election and four members at the next.
On February 15, 2022, the Board of Trustees voted to adopt the
Trustee Areas shown in the maps. These boundaries will be used in the November 2022 - November 2030 Trustee elections.
Not less than 72 hours prior to each Regular Meeting and 24 hours prior to each Special Meeting, the agenda for the meeting is posted on each campus. The agenda is also posted on Board Docs. It is important to check the
agenda for each meeting to verify the location and start-time of the meeting.
