District Bond Projects
Bond projects are key initiatives aimed at modernizing and enhancing the educational facilities within the West Valley - Mission Community College District. Funded by voter-approved bond measures, these projects are designed to provide state-of-the-art learning environments, promote sustainability, and support our students' academic and personal growth.
Campus modernization efforts include construction of new buildings and renovation of existing facilities. These upgrades ensure that students have access to contemporary classrooms, advanced laboratories, and comfortable study spaces that foster conducive learning environments.
We are committed to integrating the latest technology across our campuses. This includes upgrading IT infrastructure, providing cutting-edge equipment for teaching and research, and ensuring that all students have access to the digital tools they need for success.
Environmental responsibility is a core component of our bond projects. From energy-efficient buildings to sustainable landscaping, our initiatives aim to reduce our carbon footprint and promote a greener future for our community.
Enhancing student support services is a top priority. Projects include the creation of dedicated spaces for counseling, tutoring, and other vital resources that help students navigate their academic journeys and achieve their goals.
Funding Measures
The West Valley-Mission Community College District deeply appreciates the continued support of voters in providing for the modernization of aging facilities and the construction of new buildings.
The bond programs will complete projects in our facilities master plan, with needed improvements to the campus buildings, grounds, and utilities infrastructure. This includes libraries, performing arts centers, STEM centers, physical education facilities, campus roads, parking lots, and campus wayfinding. Funding from the bond programs also will help modernize facilities operations technology, update energy-efficient heating and air-conditioning systems, and replace decades-old portable classrooms. All these efforts will continue supporting student achievement and our vision of providing the highest quality education.
The $350 million Measure C bond program updates academic facilities and technologies to prepare students for 21st century jobs, transferring to universities, upgrading healthcare, public safety and job-training facilities. New construction will replace aging buildings, classrooms, and facilities. Infrastructure upgrades will help support new instructional technologies and energy conservation by replacing aged lighting, electrical, heating, ventilation, and plumbing systems. Projects include:
- WVC facilities building replacement
- WVC MPOE replacement structure
- Datatel infrastructure project
- HVAC and lighting energy retrofit projects
- Security, safety and monitoring
- Energy management system replacement
Approved by voters in 2018, bond Measure W continues the work to update educational facilities and technology at both campuses. The $698 million bond will allow for the completion of both campuses’ facilities master plans. The funding will be used to build new lab and job training facilities, providing clean, safe, up-to-date learning environments while preparing students for transferring to universities or obtaining gainful employment opportunities. Projects at both campuses include new and renovated performing arts centers, STEM centers, libraries, physical education facilities and modernization of utilities, infrastructure and technologies.
