On October 3, 21 staff members joined WVMCCD faculty and Communication Studies Chair Jared Fujishin for a 3-hour interactive workshop focused on authentic communication and active listening: “See the Best, Say the Best”, where attendees were able to:

• Learn how to listen actively and connect authentically.
• Practice communication strategies that work across cultures and generations.
• Discover how to turn everyday conversations into meaningful connections.

Every participant that attended the session rated it 5 out of 5 and said it was engaging and useful. A few of the comments from the day:

• "Immediately applicable lessons and reminders on how to reframe life and work situations to see the best in others and improve the ways we communicate together."
• "Enjoyed how Jared broke down the nuances of communication and how we can retrain ourselves to be more positive and how that can bleed into other areas and change perspectives."
• "Engaging and very well presented with passion and humor. Thank you, Jared!"
• "I learned a lot about communicating and listening, and really appreciated being able to practice the skills I learned."

Join us on Thursday, June 5 for the District Classified Senate Professional Development Day, featuring Chancellor Bradley Davis as the keynote speaker along with additional members of district leadership.

• Lunch will be provided for in-person attendees.
• In-person attendance is encouraged, but a Zoom will be available.
• Please work with your supervisor to ensure office coverage. Attendance is not mandatory.
