IX. NEW BUSINESS

General Association Meeting: a petition with 25 signatures was presented requesting a general meeting. It was requested that the meeting be before the end of the semester. The topics for discussion are the FACE (PAC) decision making process, presidential communication, ACE Constitution and bylaws, and relationship between Mission College Academic Senate president and ACE president (re: securing legal resources). This meeting will be held on Thursday, December 7 in BU9 from 4 to 5pm.

Assessment Coordinator Job Description: the revisions sent from Dianne McKay were reviewed and a few other modifications were suggested.

Setting the District Goal: A meeting was held on November 2. The faculty/ACE Council members attending were Randy Castello, Tom Green, Ed Kleppinger, and Ellen McAlister. The District was represented by Dave Fishbaugh, James Andrews, Dona Boatright, and Worku Negash. The efficiency goal number was explained. President Kleppinger has been requesting information about the history of this; that is, what have we done for the past three years. Are we making the goal? There was no general documentation provided but Dave Fishbaugh did provide West Valley information for the past two years. In 2004-05 and 2005-06 the goal was the same, 581, but in reality in both years West Valley only reached 550. The question was asked, "Aren't we chasing enrollment"? If so, then what we need are more sections. If we lower the goal them more money will go to the associates and thus more sections. The goal was set at 550. This goal then went to DBAC and it was accepted.

Another issue was raised at the District Goal meeting: the goal for winter and summer sessions should not be the same as fall and spring.

Next regular ACE meeting will be on Thursday, December 7 at West Valley in BU9.
